Welcome to Denmark lancia un’azione internazionale di protesta

Meet the worlds refugees with light - not darkness!

Background
As reported by many international medias the Danish government has passed a series of horrific refugee laws. Any refugee entering Denmark now runs the risk of having their belongings searched by the police. If they have valuables totalling above 10.000 DKKR (1500 USD) these can now be legally siezed by the Danish state. However the jewelry act is only the tip of the iceberg. The law will prevent most Syrian refugees from being granted more than one year’s sanctuary, unless they can prove that they are individually under threat in Syria. Parents who arrive without their children will have to wait at least three years before they can apply to be reunited with their family

In total the government has since november passed 34 changes to danish asylum law all deliberately aiming to make Denmark as unattractive as possible for refugees. The government has stated plainly that they seek to test the limits of the international convention on human rights. The political aim to make Denmark internationally known as the worst possible place for refugees to go has been a succes so far.

However not all of Denmark is blinded by the disgraceful rethoric of our politicians. We are a huge movement of volunteers and activists that has emerged since september when the refugees made themselves known inside the danish borders. There have been massive protests for a humane treatment of refugees. Tens of thousands of volunteers are flocking to the asylum centres helping to make the daily lives liveable for refugees. Activists have carried out large and powerful actions against border controls, carrier sanctions, forced deportations and the planned refugee detention centers.

Where the politicians fail to help refugees, the civil society has stepped up! The laws introduced by the government is therefore also meant to prevent us from helping refugees.

We’re a part of a world wide movement dedicated to helping refugees where the politicians fail. The world is big and rich and if we work together we can help everyone fleeing war and destruction. Its a political crisis not a refugee crisis!

But we need your help! The government is shaken by the international critique and overwhelmingly negative attention it has recieved since the introduction of the latest refugee laws. However it is not broken yet.

Therefore we ask all refugee friendly groups from all over the world to protest the Danish refugee laws on friday the 12th of febuary. Light candles, leave jewelry or perform other acts of protest at Danish embassies, counsulates and other representations. Put pressure on the Danish politicians and help all of us danish citizens fighting against these humiliating laws to get our politicians back on track!
