European elections – New EU citizens are to be allowed to vote

Ministry of interior memorandum number 134 issued December 30th 2003

Citizens coming from adhering to EU country are to be allowed to vote for next EU Parliament elections (Cesk Republic, Cyprus, Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, Malta, Polland, Slovenja, Slovakia).

This memorandum entitles citizens coming from the quoted countries and living in Italy to voto for EU elections since from May 1st their political citizenship is European. They won’t hold the right to freely move around EU countries. They will need to temporary wait before they are considered fully EU citizens.
