Study visa – Can it be converted in labour residence papers while staying in Italy?

Question - I come from Bulgaria and I have been living in Italy for some months. My study visa is to expire at the beginning of 2006. The master degree I am following implies a training stage and this should happen next November.
I am aware that in case the firm is willing to employ me I can convert my visa before it expires. I also know that since I study in Italy I am not obliged to apply to an entry authorisation.
I just would like to know whether this is valid also in case of master degrees or not. Do I need to apply to entry quotas?

Answer - The conversion of study visa into residence papers allowing to labour is possible and you can do it without leaving Italy.
You needn’t leave Italy if, of course, quotas are available. Conversion is possible if study visas are valid and if quotas are available (and a flows decree is published). Employers need to apply to quotas and if there’s one available he can ask for the conversion of visa into subordinated labour papers. If this works out, you do not have to go back to your country of origin but changes can occur in Italy.
In case you wish to convert your study visa into self-employment papers, quotas indeed need to be verified with a specific attention to the availability of quotas for conversions. Therefore we can only suggest this person to keep verifying if flows decrees are published and of course we do hope that this occurs before February 2006.
