Next April 2 nd 2005 is to be the second European day of action and mobilisation in the name of the right to freely move and against detention centres where migrant citizens are caged.
The proposal started in London during the ESF in the self-organised Beyond the Forum space. A multiplicity of groups and networks soon considered it a growing step forward for organisations and groups rebelling against the growing social precariousness that has evident and dramatic consequences on migrants’ living and working conditions.
The first day of European action took place last January 31st 2004: 40 EU cities held initiatives against detention centres, key-words were: permanent regularisation for all!
European networks that reclaim income, social rights for all and the abrogation of Fortress Europe laws are calling for action next April 2nd 2005.

This day aims to become an alternative opposition to EU constitutional process, which is based on exclusion and exploitation, and it is strongly enriched by the widespread struggles against casuality of labour and precariousness in everyday life. Struggles in workplaces, in the name of the right to have a house, against racism and discriminations, against detention centres point out a new idea of Europe. These struggles involve migrants and non-migrants in a process of claims of a common human dignity.
April the 2nd initiatives, actions and mobilisations are thought towards EuroMayDay 2005 and are targeted against those laws that on a global ground manage the exploitation of the labour force.
The European meeting held in Berlin on the 15th and 16th of January stressed the importance of a process starting around the 2nd of april until the 1st of may, a day which is declaratedly developped on a european level.

The way from the 2nd of April to the Euromayday has already moved his steps in Italy, starting with the mobilisation on the 19th of Febbruary in Parma, going on with the direct action against the new detention centre of Gradisca d’Isonzo near Gorizia last 26th of Febbruary and again with the initiative against modern lagers such as Via Corelli’s detention center .
