Melting Pot Radio – radio laboratory for the promotion of citizenship rights

Melting Pot Radio Laboratorio radiofonico per la promozione dei diritti di cittadinanza Laboratoire radiophonique pour la promotion des droits de citoyenneté Radio laboratory for the promotion of citizenship rights This workshop initially planned to produce 10 broadcasts. Our editorial staff, born out of two public calls for participation, includes about 30 people, from multiple countries including Guinea, Morocco, Nigeria, Iran, Italy, Bolivia, Argentina and Senegal. In these meetings, including an initial meeting discussing how to develop the radio programme, we decided to separate into two groups: one dealing with technical aspects and the other handling editorial. The broadcast is divided into several sections corresponding to the sections on our website: Sans Papiers, Cittadinanze and Un Mondo Molti Mondi. – Interview with Barbara from the Melting Pot team on the origins of this radio laboratory – For the Sans papiers section, lawyer Marco Paggi provides an analysis of the first 16 months of Salvini’s “security and immigration” law – For the “Cittadinanze” (citizenships) section, Marco from the Lesvos Calling campaign alongside Eleonora describes travelling in solidarity to the island of Lesvos, in particular Moria Camp, from January 3 to January 8, 2020. – Another death has been announced in the Permanent Centre for Repatriation (CPR) in the city of Gradisca. A 37-year-old Georgian citizen died on Saturday 8th January. According to witnesses, he was “beaten by police”. A comment from Stefano Bleggi, from the Melting Pot project, and a testimony from the No CPR network of the Friuli Venezia Giulia region. – Un terzo contributo sempre per questa rubrica sarà la presentazione di Help Desk, uno sportello di orientamento legale attivato a Padova dall’Associazione Open Your Borders – Thirdly, in the Cittadinanze section is an introduction to Help Desk, a legal advice desk in Padova ran by the organization Open Your Borders. – In conclusion, for the “Un Mondo, Molti Mondi” section, we discuss Guinea, a country on the verge of the civil war, with analysis from Mamadou Diallo. Questa nuova stagione 2024/2025 prevede la realizzazione di 8 episodi.
La prima call pubblica, che ha avuto come obiettivo quello di promuovere un protagonismo diretto delle persone coinvolte nei processi migratori, si è svolta nel dicembre del 2023 ed ha formato la redazione del nuovo progetto.

 

Il progetto è realizzato con i Fondi dell'Otto per Mille della Chiesa Valdese.

Una campagna solidale per la libertà di movimento
Dopo il viaggio conoscitivo a ottobre 2019 a Lesvos e sulla Balkan route, per documentare e raccontare la drammatica situazione sull'isola hotspot greca e conoscere attivisti/e e volontari/e che si adoperano a sostegno delle persone migranti, è iniziata una campagna solidale lungo la rotta balcanica e le "isole confino" del mar Egeo.
