The Council of Genoa – decree 205 issued July 27th 2004 – approved of a new statute that allows migrant citizens’ right to vote to district and council elections. Only regularly staying migrants are allowed to vote.
The government opposes this provision and obtained its annulment – the President of Republic issued a decree past August 17th 2005 (following a Council of State’s opinion issued past July 6th).
